f of the City Commission
Appointments to the
Affirmative Action
y Advisory Board
' Joseph R. Grassiel.,—
City Manager '
At the January 24, 1980 City Commission Meeting, the Commission indicated
that they wished to defer appointments to the Affirmative Action Advisory
Board until the ordinance which created the Board was changed. The par-
ticular interest of the Commission was that the Board report directly to
the Commission.
An ordinance was prepared incorporating the aforementioned changes and
approved by you on second reading at the July 24, 1980 City Commission
Meeting.
It is now appropriate for you to submit names of your nominees so that
appointments can be scheduled for the September 15, 1980 City Commission
Meeting. There are presently 5 vacancies on the Affirmative Action
Advisory Board. It has been customary for each Commissioner and the Mayor
to nominate one candidate to serve on the Affirmative Action Advisory
Board with endorsement by the City Commission through resolution. Attached
is a list of members with an asterick by those persons whose terms have
expired. It should be noted that the Board's Chairperson and the City's
Affirmative Action Supervisor have indicated that it may be desirable to
consider a representative of one of the groups representing the handicapped
for appointment.
Please have your nominees complete the attached forms and return them to
Angela Bellamy of my staff no later that Tuesday, September 2, 1980.
