Department of Fire
_•;,;,.,_;„-:, Resolution
On September 9, 1980, the citizens of Dade County passed an
Ordinance which:
1. Establishes a county wide Fire and Rescue Service District;
2. Funds such district by the levy of ad valorem taxes not to
exceed three (3) mills; and
3. Permits each municipal governing body to independently
provide, from its own resources, Fire and Rescue Service.
It is the recommendation of the Fire Chief that the City of Miami
exercise its option to exclude the City of Miami from this special
district and continue to provide the high level of service it is
now providing to its citizens.
By exercising this option, the taxpayers of the City of Miami
would be excluded from the tax levied by the special district
and no longer would be taxed to pay for County Fire and Rescue
Service which they do not receive.
Attached is a recommended resolution for City Commission consid-
eration.
