It is recommended that an additional
$15,000 be allocated to extend the
services of Sparber, Shevin, Rosen, (; _
Shapo and Heinbronner for the purpose of -7
analyzing the City of Miami's pension
structure, per the attached resolution. •• :,
w
The law firm of Sparber, Shevin, Rosen, Shapo, and Heinbronner
was employed by the Law Department for the purpose of analyzing
the City of Miami's pension structure. Their services were
authorized by City Commission Resolution No. 79-829 for a minimum
fee of $7,500 and a maximum fee of $15,000.
Sparber, et al, completed a proposed ordinance restructuring the
City of Miami's Pension Plan. This task has been very time
consuming and required extensive research on their part to obtain
information necessary to develop the proposed ordinance. The time
required for the performance of this task has exceeded our initial
estimate. Consequently, it is recommended that an additional
$15,000 be allocated to extend their services to assist us in
providing the proposed plan to the City Commission as well as
legal work associated with the restructuring plan.
I have contacted Mr. Knox, City Attorney, and he concurs with this
recommendation.
