AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5-47 OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA,
BY RESTRUCTURING THE BOXING AND WRESTLING
BOARD BY DECREASING THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS
OF SAID BOARD FROM 8 TO 5 AND ONE (1)
SECRETARY -TREASURER, ALL OF SAID INDIVIDUALS
TO BE APPOINTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION FOR
TERMS OF 2 YEARS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
BOARD TO ESTABLISH RULES AND REGULATIONS TO
GOVERN LICENSES AND FEES THEREOF AND TO
RECOMMEND COMPENSATION TO THE APPOINTED
SECRETARY -TREASURER; SAID COMPENSATION TO
BE APPROVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION; CONTAIN-
ING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT
OF READING SAME ON 2 SEPARATE DAYS BY A
VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR -FIFTHS OF THE
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the City over recent years has improved public
facilities which can accommodate professional boxing and
wrestling events; and
WHEREAS, it is evident that the potential number of
these events dictates the need to revitalize a Boxing and
Wresting; Board to govern the licensing thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 5-47 of the Code of the City of
!Miami, Florida, is hereby amended in the following particu-
lars:�
"Sec. 5-47. Boxing and wrestling board.
There is hereby established a boxing and
wrestling board, to be known as the 'Boxing and
Wrestling Board', which board shall consist of
eight-{g* five (5) members, and one (1) secretary -
treasurer, who shall serve for two-year terms
and who shall be appointed by the city commission
with each city commissioner nominating one (1) member to said board.

city commission shall appoint one (1) of the members
as chairman, and he shall call and preside over the
meetings and shall appoint a successor should any
member become deceased or resign. The majority of the
members of the board shall constitute a quorum to

board shall serve without compensation
with the exception of the secretary -treasurer,
who shall be compensated in terms of a percen-
tage of the fees collected as recommended by
the board and approved by the city commission.

Section 2. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances,
insofar as they are in conflict with the provisions of
this ordinance, are hereby repeal.ed.
Section 3. If any section, sentence, clause, phrase
or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remain-
ing provisions shall not be affected.
Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance
on two separate days is hereby dispensed with by a vote of
not less than four -fifths of the members of the Commission.
