Dear Father Gibson:
'tt>
The Eighth Annual Joseph Caleb Golf Tournament will be
held at the Miami Springs Golf Course November 8th and
9th. The tournament is an Urban League of Greater
+s Miami, Inc. fundraising activity, which assists the
agency in carrying out work which is vital to the Black
S'
community in South Florida.
This year, the revenue the tournament generates is more
important than usual due to a number of crises the
vagency has had to face in the past three months. Our
Y' office,at 1200 Biscayne Boulevard, fell victim to arson
' the end of May and the expenses we entailed by moving our
staff to temporary office space and back to our original
office were great. In addition to that, we had several
yr break-ins at our temporary headquarters, and lost all of
our typewriters and several other pieces of office equip -
went.
Due to these extraordinary circumstances, we would like
to request your assistance. We are asking that the City
of 12iami waive the green fees at the Miami Springs Golf
Course for the tournament. We would, also, appreciate
the city's underwriting the cost of the buffet luncheon
that will be offered to tournament participants on
s Saturday, November 8th. With this assistance, we are
hopeful of raising much needed funds to help us resupply
our office with the equipment necessary for our operation.
