Agenda for Second Public Nearing Pursuant to the new TRIM Bill, the City of Miami has scheduled the second public hearing to discuss the Fiscal Year 1980'-81 Proposed Budget on October 3, 1980 at 1:00 p.m. This Bill also mandates the items that must be discussed at the hearing and the order in which they must be discussed. The following is a list of these requirements in sequential order. In those cases where the City must provide information, I have stated the City's response. 1. Percentage increase in millaae over the rolled back rate. RESPONSE: Twenty seven and three-tenth's percent (21.3%) 2, Specific purposes for which ad valorem tax revenues are being increased, , RESPONSE: Purpose Cost %• A. Maintain Police services at current levels $ 2,149,088 19 B. Add 150 new police personnel 3,361,104 29 C. Add Public Safety Fund 2,000,000 ~ 14 D. Maintain Fire services at current levels 1,551,210 14 E. Maintain Solid I~Jaste services at reasonable levels 2,201,163 19 F. Maintain Ruildinq & Zoning services at reasonable levels 140,465 1 $]1,403;630 100 3. The City Cornrnission must listen to comments regarding the proposed increase and explain the reasons for the increase over ttie rolled back rate. Additionally, the puhlic must be allowed to speak and ask questions before any measures are adopted by the governing body. ., ~ ~'~ Richard L. Fosmoen Page 2 4. If no changes are made to the adopted tentative budget, the governing body must: A. Publicly read the entire millage ordinance, 8. Adopt the final millage rate. C. Adopt the final budget.
