HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-091811 LCD/me AMENDMENT NO. 66 TO ORDINANCE NO. 8719 9/12/80 ORDINANCE NO. r 9181 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 8719, -_ ADOPTED OCTOBER 26, 1977, THE SUMMARY GRANT APPROPRIA- TIONS ORDINANCE, BY ESTABLISHING A NEW TRUST AND AGENCY FUND ENTITLED: "HUMAN SERVICES TO HANDICAPPED LATIN _ CITIZENS"; AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF = SAME IN THE AMOUNT OF $33,447, COMPOSED OF $20,774 TO BE RECEIVED FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS AND $12,673 FROM CITY OF MIAMI, MATCHING FUNDS FOR GRANTS; CONTAINING A REPEALER PRO- VISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF READING SAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY A VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR -FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8719 on October 26, 1977 establishing resources and appropriations for grant funds anticipated by the City of Miami and for corresponding City Cash Match requirements; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs, _ has offered a grant award of $20,774 to the City of Miami for "Human Services to Handicapped Latin Citizens"; and WHEREAS, a sum of $12,673 is available from Fiscal Year 1980-81 Special Programs and Accounts, Matching Funds for Grants, for this program,contingent upon the adoption of the Fiscal Year 1981 Annual Appropriations Ordinance; and WHEREAS, in -kind services valued at $9,050 are available from the Department of Leisure Services for the above -mentioned program; and WHEREAS, this program will meet a crucial need to provide ser- vices to Handicapped Latin Citizens; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted October 26, 1977, as amended, is hereby further amended in the following particulars:l/ "Section 1. The following Trust and Agency Funds are hereby established and resources are hereby appropriated as des- cribed herein: l/ Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Under- scored words and/or figures constitute the amendment proposed. Remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged. Asterisks indicate omitted and unchanged material. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected. Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance on two separate days is hereby dispensed with by a vote of not less than four -fifths of the members of the Commission. ' rn -v C IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE AUTHORIZED TO ESTABLISH A TRUST AND AGENCY RE FUND FOR A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS AND TO MAKE EXPENDITURES FROM SUCH. ry W The City Manager has submitted a grant application to the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs to identify voids in services for Handicapped citizens in the City of Miami. This is a continuation of an existing grant which has been funded in the amount of $33,447.00, composed of $20,774.00 to be. received from the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs and $12,673.00 from the City of Miami, matching funds for grants. Acceptance of these funds will allow us to continue identifying additional methods to help the Handicapped citizens of this City to lead as independent life as possible.
