IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,500 TOTAL BID OF THE PROPOSAL, FOR RE- HABILITATION OF MULTI -FAMILY BUILDING - 240 NW 11th STREET SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF AWNINGS; ALLOCATING THE AMOUNT OF $ 9,500 FROM THE "FOURTH, FIFTH AND SIXTH YEAR FEDERAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $ 285.00 TO COVER THE COST OF ADVERTISING, POSTAGE, AND PRINTING; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A ��'"IVE CONTRACT WITH A SAID FIRM. 6 1 4 i WHEREAS, sealed bids were received on October 2, 1980 for REHABILITATION OF MULTI -FAMILY BUILDING - 240 NW 11th STREET, SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF AWNINGS; and WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the $ 9,500 bid of Awning Craft, Inc. for the total bid of the proposal, is the lowest re- sponsible bid and recommends that a contract be awarded to said firm, and WHEREAS, the proposed amount of the contract is to be allocated from the account entitled "Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Year Federal Community Development Block Grant Funds"; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The October 2, 1980 bid of Awning Craft, Inc. in the proposed amount of $ 9,500 for the project entitled REHABILITATION OF MULTI- FAMILY BUILDING - 240 NW 11th STREET, SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF AWNINGS for the total bid of the proposal, is hereby accepted at the prices stated therein.i►4L)L/ ITEM NO. ,► Section 2. The amount of $ 9,500 be, and it is hereby, allocated from the account entitled "Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Year Federal Community Development Block Grant Funds" to cover the cost of said contract. The project in general consists of substantial rehabilitation of a 2-story CBS building, including repairs to the roof, new plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, interior repairs and painting, and improvements to the exterior. A Pre -bid meeting will be held at the Department of Community Development, 1145 N.W. llth Street, City of Miami, Florida on the 22nd day of September, 1980 at 10:00 a.m. in the first floor Conference Room. Documents may be obtained from the Residential Rehabilitation Program office, 1145 N.W. llth Street. Plans and Specifications are to be returned in good condition within 10 days after bids have been received. Those minority or target area contractors/small businesses' interested in submitting bids are advised to contact Contractors Training and Development, Inc. to be provided technical assistance in preparing bid packages. The requirement of a Bid Bond and Performance Bond may be waivered for this project. Carter Building Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $273,790 for general construction work r� and Awning Craft, Inc. in the amount of $9,500 for supply and installation of awnings and authorizing the City Manager to enter into contracts on behalf of the City of •• =- Miami for REHABILITATION of MULTI -FAMILY BUILDING 240 NW 11th STREET, Bids were received on October 2, 1980 for the rehabilitation of a city -owned multi -family building located at 240 NW 11th Street, General construction work will include repairs to the roof, new plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, interior repair and painting, installation of kitchen and bath fixtures, and exterior improvements. A separate bid was required for supply and insta- llation of awnings, For the general construction work, a $273,790 bid submitted by M. Carter Building Contractors, Inc, has been determined to be the lowest responsible bid. A'bid received from All State Building Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $247,500 has been found in substantial non-compliance with City of Miami bidding procedure and was rejected. The bid of Awning Craft, Inc, in the amount of $9,500 for supply and installation of awnings has been determined to be the lowest responsible bid. Funds have been allocated from the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Year Federal Community Development Block Grant Program for the estimated amount of the contracts for project expenses including provision for temporary relocation of existing tenants, and for such items as advertising, printing, and postage.
