RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS
TO THE CITY OF MIAMI COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
ADVISORY BOARDS IN THE AREAS OF ALLAPATTAH,
DOWNTOWN, MODEL CITY, AND OVERTOWN, IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF NIAMI CITIZEN
PARTICIPATION PLAN FOR THE COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 80-563 on July 24, 1980, the City Commission
adopted a Citizen Participation Plan for the Community Development Block
Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, said plan provides for an election in seven of the City's
eight Community Development target areas to choose between a Chairperson/
Vice -Chairperson Forum and a 10 member Appointed/Elected Advisory Board as
the neighborhood citizen participation structure; and
WHEREAS, elections were held in the seven Community Development target
areas; and
WHEREAS, the target areas of Allapattah, Downtown, Model City and
Overtown elected the 10 member Appointed/Elected Advisory Board structure;
and
WHEREAS, said structure requires that five members he appointed to
each board by the City Commission to serve a two year term in accordance
with the conditions and restrictions outlined in the Citizen Participation
Plan; and
WHEREAS, there are two additional vacancies on the Overtown Advisory
Board due to a tie for board member and a conflict of interest of another
elected board member; and
WHEREAS, the vacancy on the Overtown Advisory Board resulting from
the tie will be filled by the elected board members and the five appointed
board members; and
WHEREAS, the vacancy resulting from the conflict of interest requires
an appointment by the City Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:

In accordance with the City Of Miami Citizen Participation .

pattah, Dov/nt0xn, �I0del City and OvertOwn, per the attached
resolution.
Subsequent to the approval of the Citizen Participation Plan on July 24, 1980,
target area elections were held in seven Of the City of Miami Community Development
target areas to choose between a Chairperson/Vice Chairperson Forum and a 10-0ember
appointed/elected Advisory Board.
- The target areas of AllJpattJh` Downtown, Model City and Ov8rt0wn elected the
-- Advisory Board structure. Five me/�bors were elected to serve on each Board with
the exception of (Ivcr1oxn whore there wx5 a tie for the fifth board member. Addi-
tionally, an elected cenlhcr to the 0vertown Board will be receiving Community Development
funds and therefore, is inplinihlp to Serve On the Board. A replacement will there-
fore need to be appointed to fill this Yacancy.
