ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 56-55 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA (1980),
AS AMENDED, BY PROVIDING THEREIN FOR AN
INCREASE IN THE FARE CHARGED BY ALL HOLDERS
OF CERTIFICATES OPERATING FOR -HIRE CARS
(JITNEY BUSES) FROM 500 to 600; CONTAINING
A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE
AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF READING
SAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY A VOTE OF NOT LESS
THAN FOUR -FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the various holders of certificates operating
for -hire cars (jitney buses) have shown the economic necessity
for an increase in jitney fares on the basis of rising costs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 56-55 of the Code of the City of
4" Miami, Florida, (1980), as amended, is hereby further amended

in the following particulars:
"Sec. 56-55. Rate of fare for for -hire cars
(jitney buses) .
The rate of fifty sixty cents fare shall be
charged by all holders of certificates operat-
ing for -hire cars (jitney buses) used to transport
passengers over the streets, roads and highways of
the city."
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances
insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the pro-
visions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph,
clause, phrase or word of this ordinance is declared invalid,
the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be
affected.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of November, 1980.
