;:3rr::r Amendment to Ordinance
R E FI.:RC-4Ct8:
"ICLGSUj RES.
I recommend that the proposed Ordinance
Amendment be enacted, increasing vehicle
storage fees which would generate approximately
$75,OOO in extra revenue each year. Storage
rates have not been changed for four (4) years.
It is recommended that the daily storage fees for the Miami Police
Department's Auto Pound be increased from $3.00 to $6.00 for
Motorcycles, from $5.00 to $8.00 for Passenger Vehicles, and from
$7.50 to $10.50 for trucks, which is a $3.00 per day increase
in each category as indicated in the proposed Amendment. The
current fees have been in effect for four years. We feel that an
increase in the daily storage fees will encourage a timely retrieval
of impounded vehicles, which will assist the Miami Police Department
in maintaining usable space in the critically overcrowded Auto Pound.
These increased fees are expected to generate approximately $75,000
in additional annual revenue, which could be utilized to assist off-
setting the ever-increasing costs of maintaining the Miami Police
Department's Auto Pound.
