FLORIDA INTER - OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE REFERENCES ENCLOSURES December 17, 1980 sueJECT Domino Park (Maceo Park) The following is a current update of action taken to improve Domino Park (Maceo Park): Lighting on S. W. 15th Avenue: Public Works in conjunction with Florida Power & Light have installed new high pressure sodium lights on S. W. 15th Avenue. These lights in conjunction, with the high pressure lights on S. W. 8th Street provide good night- time lighting. TILE Park Lighting and Cleanup: All lights have been fixed and the park has been completely cleaned up and painted. New closing signs have been posted and all trees have been trimmed for better visibility. A full time attendant (Oscar Carballo) has been assigned to the Park. Police Protection: A separate report is being forwarded by the Police Chief's office regarding man hours, arrests, etc. in the Park. Parking Lot behind (Park): The Parks Department contacted Building and Zoning Department. Building and Zoning has officially notified all owners to take corrective measures. Mrs. Whitlaw from W'ometco gave a verbal commitment to the Building Inspector that maintenance men will beiin this week to upgrade the lighting in the lot and to remove all debris. Park Fence: The park fence was to have been incorporated into the park expansion. Since the Commission decided at the last meeting not to expand the Park, the Parks Department has gone ahead with plans to fence the Park with an attractive vertical bar metal fence (we recom- mend 8'). With wide rollback gates, this fence could be a part of the street furniture and be aesthetically compatible. The estimated cost is $12 - $15,000 and we could have a bid package prepared within ten days when so instructed. No Parking Sign on S. W. 15th Avenue: Public Works has requested this status from Dade County. We will follow up this week to determine status of request. it Kw- TO FROM Richard L.
