COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION TO ALL HEREIN NAMED PARTIES.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Perks Department is interested
in the improvement and enhancement of Margaret Pace Park on
behalf of citizens and visitors; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Rita Johnson Wilder on behalf of The Wilder
Foundation, through the auspices of Mr. E. Albert Pallot,
Mrs. Robert A. Burton, .Jr. , and the City of Miami Committee
on Ecology and Beautification, has generously made a cash
donation of $91,281 for the construction of a picnic pavilion
in Margaret Pace Park; and
WHEREAS, the City is in receipt of a check from the
Wilder Foundation, dated November 26, 1980, for the sum of
$45,000 with the stipulation that the remaining sum of
$46, 281 wi I be delivered in calendar year 1981, when the
project is underway; and
WHEREAS, the Cite wishes to thank Mrs. Wilder for her
generous gift and worthy intentions, and Mr. E. Albert Pallot,
Mrs. Robert A. Burton, Jr., and the City of Miami Committee
on Ecology and Beautification for their inspiration and coor—
dination of this gift; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends acceptance of the
donation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
accept the cash donation of $91,281, payable (a) by check
dated November 26, 1980 in the amount of S45,000, the receipt
of which is hereby acknowledged; and (b) by future delivery of
$46,281 in calendar year 1981, when the construction of a
picnic pavilion is underway in City of Miami 1,14argaret Pace
Park located at N.F. 18th Street and North Bayshore Drive.
Section 2. The City Commission hereby expresses its
thanks and appreciation to Ctrs. Rita Johnson Wilder on behalf
of The Wilder Foundation for her generous gift and worthv
intentions, and to Mr. [:. Albert Pallot, Mrs. Robert A.
Burton, Jr., and the City of ^liami Committee on Ecology and
Beautification for their diligent efforts on behalf of the
people of the City of Miami.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward
copies of the herein resolution to all of the participants named
in Section 2 [icreof.

"It is hereby recommended that a cash gift of $91,281.00
for construction of a Picnic Pavilion in Margaret Pace
Park be accepted as a gift to the City of Miami from
Mrs. Rita Johnson Wilder on behalf of The Wilder Foundation.
Further, it is recommended that the City thank Mrs,. Wilder
and those closely associated with the gift, Mr. E. Albert
Pallot, Mrs. Robert A. Burton, Jr. and The City of Miami
Committee on Ecology and Beautification."
Based upon review and design sketches for a picnic pavilion to be
located in Margaret Pace Park, as ;prepared by the Parks Department,
Mr. E. Albert Pallot and Mrs, Robert A. Burton, Jr., representing
the City of "4iami Committee on Ecology and Beautification, proffered
the develol-ment of same to Mrs. Rita Johnson Wilder.
On November _IG, 1980, rs, Wilder resl;onded through offer to donate
$91,281.00 too:ard the construction of the shelters, pavement and imme-
diate landscaFe treatment. The cash donation was made in the form of
a check for $45,000 through the Wilder Foundation, with understanding
that a remaining sum of $46,281 will be donated in the calendar year
1981, when the project: if, underway.
With the City Commission's acceptance of the gift, the Parks Department
will immediately proceed with design and construction drawings for imple
mentation of this project. c___1

I am honored to convey news of Mrs. Rita Johnson Wilder's generous gift
to the City of Miami on behalf of The Wilder Foundation in the amount
of $91,281.00 for purpose of constructing a picnic pavilion in the City
of Miami's Margaret Pace Park, N.E. 18th Street and North Bayshore Drive.
The enclosed letter from Mrs. Wilder to you specifies the use of the
funds as related to drawings for the picnic pavilion prepared by Juanita
Shearer of our staff, as well as a time table for t•irs. Wilder's fulfillment
of the donation. we are in receipt of a check for $45,000. from the Wilder
Foundation and are currently processing it through the Treasury ;Management
Division of the Finance Department (iAhotocopy enclosed). An amendment to
the 1980-81 Capital Improvement Ordinance (Ordinance =91919), will also be
prepared designating this as a new Capital Improvement Project, thus main-
taining the integrity and accountability of the gift.
The conception of the project ,and arrangements for it with Mrs. Wilder were
directed under the auspices of Mr. E. Albert Pallot and the City of Miami
Committee on Ecology and Beautification.
I have enclosed letters of appreciation to Mrs. Wilder and Mr. Pallot for
your review and signature.
