Salt 1, 3iF"ER NCES - Building & Zoning Inspection Department I recommend that the proposed ordinance amending the recently passed Ordinance No. 9162 be adopted to correct an error and add several items inadvertently omitted in Ord. No. 9162. An error was made in designating fees for electric motors under Section 5g(4) "Motors" which would be charging a permit fee greater than the cost of the motor. The fees now proposed are more equitable and more closely cover our actual cost for inspections. Section 5g(18) "Partial Demolition" is added to compensate for electrical inspections required during partial demolition of buildings. In Section 5(d)(12) Swimming Pools, Whirlpools and Hot Tubs have been added since this is not covered in the present fee schedule and has became a big item in recent years. Under Section 5f(6) the items have been rearranged for clarity and easier access. Under Section 5(h) "Mechanical Permit Fees", Item (12) is being added to compensate a:Ltendance at tests required for Broke removal systems. This has become a more frequent requirement due to the increase in high-rise buildings constructed with atriums and interior snokeproof stair towers. An annual check of the system is very important to insure that the mechanical smoke removal system is in continually operational condition. Because of the importance of these items, we are requesting that this Ordinance be passed on one reading at the next Commission meeting.
