A RESOLUTION APPROVING IN PRINCIPLE THE

U PLAN, CONCERNING THE AREA IN IMMEDIATE

PROXIMITY TO THE SANTA CLARA TRANSIT STATION
WHICH WILL BE LOCATED IN THE MEDIAN OF NORTH-
WEST 12TH AVENUE, BETWEEN NORTHZJFST 20TH
STREET AND NORTHWEST 21ST TERRACE.
WHERLAS, the Miami Planning Advisory hoard at its meeting
of December 3, 1980, Item No. 1, following an advertised hearing adopted
Resolution No. PAB 32-80 by a 4 to 0 vote (4 members absent) recommending
approval in principle of the Santa Clara Station Area Plan as herein-
after set forth; and
WHEREAS, the Citv Commission deems it advisable and in the
best interest of the general welfare of the Citv of Miami and its
inhabitants to recommend said studv;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Santa Clara Station Area Plan, an ancillary
study to the Miami Comprehensive ;Neighborhood Plan, concerning
the area in immediate proximity to the Santa Clara Transit Station
which will be located in the median of Northwest 12th Avenue, between
Northwest 20th Street and Northwest 21st Terrace, is approved in
principle.

Plan, an ancillary study to the Miami Com-
prehensive Neighborhood Plan, concerning
the area in immediate Proximity to the
Santa Clara Transit Station which i..•ill he
located in the median of N.W. 12th Avenue
between N.W. 20th Street and 21st Terrace
REQUEST To approve the plan for the Santa Clara
Station Area.
BACKGROUND The zoning recommendations of this plan will
be subscouently offered as amendments to the
Miami Comprehensive Neij�hborhood Plan and
appropriate items will be added to the
Capital Tmprovements Program.
ANALYSIS The recommended plan includes economic,
transportation linkage, and urban design
strategies for the area. Also, the plan
addresses four specific sites (including
the station site) in order to encourage
development compatible with the activity ex-
pected to he generated by the transit station.
The traffic circulation element of the plan
nroposcs the closure of N.11. 21st Street
between N.11,`. 12th Avenue and N.W. llth
Avenue to .attempt to package retail. activi-
ties on an uninterrupted Pedestrianized si.de-
walk and to eliminate hazardous truck move-
ments within the immediate adjacency of the
station. The plan also includes Dedestrian
and landscaping improvements.

The Miami Planning Advisory Board, at its meeting of December 3, 1980,
Item 41, following an advertised Hearing, adopted Resolution No,
PAB 32-80 by a 4 to 0 vote (4 members absent) RECOMMENDING APPROVAL IN
PRINCIPLE, of the Santa Clara Station Area Plan, an ancillary study to
the Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan, concerning the area in
immediate proximity to the Santa Clara Transit Station which will be
located in the median of N.W. 12th Avenue, between N.W. 20th Street and
N.W. 21st Terrace.
There were no objections.
A. RESOLUTION to provide for this Area Plan has been prepared by the
City tttorney's office and submitted for consideration of the City
Commission.
