This Workshop will consist of presentations by the Department of Community Development and the Miami Board of Realtors. Backup materials from the Department of Community Development are attached. Also, I've attached a memo concerning f'el Adam's request for an additional capital contribution from the City on the amount of S205,000 to assist in the financing of four of the Section 8 housing projects the County is developing in the City which we support. These items will be discussed at the workshop. At the Housing Workshop, the City Commssion will be provided with a written summary of current housing programs. While discussinq the status of housing programs (agenda item I), which should require about 10 minutes, we are planninq to show slides of projects now under construction. Many of them were still in the planning stage when the last workshop was held. Several sponsors and developers of housing have been asked to attend the workshop including, Martin Fine, Martin Reingold, George McCleary, George Green and Art Martinez. We trust the City Commission and its staff will work with us to follow up P.PE CTOPS the recommendations that were presented. !F n(I I,,E PAIN The last item of our presentation called for creation of a FD.:NC BACSY citizen's advisory committee to be known as the "Miami Affordable Rental Committee for Housing", (MARCH). This committee d, ••NeA$MAJIAN would be appointed by you to serve for a period of one year, unless KRMA COOK extended. No pay or staff would be required. We suggest a seven — person committee as follows: 2 Realtors(D, 2 Builders, 1 Architect A STANLEY DODD and 1 Mortgage Banker. JAMESC f+ENLEr JR This committee can be appointed at a special meeting in the FRANk KOWALSKI immediate future or, as suggested by Commissioner Carollo, at the regular March meeting of the Commission. It would serve as a FrIEDe MARTIN resource for your own Department of Community Development.
