Mullins Purchasing Agent Award of Bid, Resolution, Tabulation It is recommended that the award be made and a resolution be passed accepting the most advantageous bid as received from Uniforms For Industry, Inc. for furnishing Work Uniforms on a contract basis for one year, City Wide, at a total estimated cost of $75,487.00. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received December 10, 1980 for furnishing Work Uniforms on a contract basis for one year, City Wide. Invitations were mailed to 12 potential suppliers and 4 bids were received as per the attached tabulation. Funds for this purchase are available in the 1980-81 Operating Budget. Work uniforms are furnished to the various City Departments in accordance with labor agreements. The Department of finance concurs with this recommendation. ALM:an 11SUPPORTIVE DOCUMENTS, FOLLOV'-V' s1-l()1_ t AWARD OF BID ITEM: DEPARTMENT: TYPE OF PURCHASE: REASON: POTENTIAL BIDDERS: BIDS RECEIVED: Bid No. 80-81-12 Work Uniforms City Wide Contract for one year To furnish uniforms in compliance with labor agreements. 12 4 TABULATION: Attached FUNDS: 1980-81 Operating Budget CERTIFIED AS TO AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS/SOURCE Department of Finance BID EVALUATION: All bids meet the specifications except for minor items. Jules Bros. Uniforms, Inc. is the present contractor. Their bid comes closest to meeting all the technical specifications. However, they specified a delivery time of 60 days rather than 45 days as requested in the bid. Jules Bros. Uniforms, Inc. currently has over $5,000.00 in purchase orders that are from 30 to 120 days past the delivery requirement. Their total bid is $16,732.00 more than their bid for the previous year. The bid from Garment Corporation of America was not com- plete. Their bid did not include the cotton shirts and trousers which are required for certain employees. Their bid also did not include city emblems and silk screening on all the shirts. A savings could be realized by splitting the bid of approximately $7,500.00. This would require buying the shirts from one supplier and delivering them to another for the emblems and silk screening. This would not be practical. Accordingly, the recom- mendation is for the lowest total bid, Uniforms for Industry, Inc., who have previously sup- plied the work uniforms on a very satisfactory_ basis. RECOMMENDATION: Previous year cost of work uniforms was $66,186.00. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE AWARD BIE MADE TO U;iIFORMS FOR INDUSTRY, INC.
