WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received December 15, 1.980 for the furnishing of a Health Maintenance Program for the Department of Police, and t�HEREAS, invitations were mailed to 5 potentail suppliers and 3 hids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in a Federal Law Enforcement Assistance Administration Grant, and t•:HIEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Police for thc purpose of providing, a methodology to assess the overall physical fitneSS of police personnel; and t'HIEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Police recom- mend that the bid received from Dr's. Richard Lopez and Diane Pruett. be accepted as tale most advantageous bid to the City; NOW THEREFORE, BE 11' RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The December 15, 1980 hid of Dr's Richard Lopez and Diane Puuett for furnishing a Health Maintenance Program on a contract basis for one year for the Department of Police at a total cost of $22,487.11 is hereby accepted with funds hereby allocated from the Federal Law Enforcement Assistance Administration Grant. Richard Lopez and Dianne Pruett for furnish- ing a Health Maintenance Program on a contract basis for one year at a total cost of $22,487.71. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received December 15, 1980 for furnishing a Health Maintenance Program on a con- tract basis for one year to the Department of Police. The Health Maintenance Program will provide a means to assess the overall physical fitness of police personnel, and will consist of. 1. Providing; the services of 2 qualified exercise physiologists. 2. Use of individualized training programs. 3. Curriculem for training; physical fitness instructors. 4. A work plan for establishment of minimal fitness criteria regarding the new physical agility test for police applicants. The project will involve approximately 100 police personnel at an average cost of $225.00 each, or $18.75 per employee per month. The Department of Police concurs with this recommendation.
