The requested variance to allow + 32% compact spaces is acceptable in light of the proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance which will change the allow- able percentage of compact spaces to 35 or 4090 (to be heard by the City Commission in September). The Ordinance further provides that the City Manager may, after review and determination that substantial progress has been achieved by the applicant in terms of project planning, extend the expiration date of the Variance for an additional period of time not to exceed one year, subject to approval of the City Commission. The Planning Department finds no objection to the granting of the extension of time for this Variance. We are requesting the City Attorney's office, by copy of this memo, to prepare the proper Resolution for this extension. A copy of the Resolution and letter of transmittal to the former owners is attached. Plans and specifications for the addition to the existing building at 550 LeJeune Road have been completed. Bidding of the job is in progress. However, there is insufficient time to properly evaluate bids and award a contract by the March 8, 1981 expiration date of the Variance.
