A RESOLUTION CREATING AND APPOINTING MEMBERS TO A
5 MEMBER ADVISORY CO,%DITTTEE ENTITLED THE "DuPONT
PLAZA SELECT CONMITTEE" MIMI IS TO REMAIN IN
EXISTENCE. UNTIL (A) THE. SAID COMMITTEE SHALL HAVE
MONTTORED, REVIE14ED AND PRESENTED A CRITIQUE ON
THE CONSULTANT'S STUDY TO BE PERFORMED OF THE CON-
FIGURATION AND CO1%H7ATTBILITY OF EXISTING AND PROPOSED
BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE DuPONT PLAZA AREA

A PERIOD OF 1.5 DAYS AFTER SAID COMPLETED CONSULTANT'S
STUDY HAS BEEN RECEIVED BY SAID COMMTTTEE, WHICHEVER
IS EARLIER.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CO!,1MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section I. There is hereby created a 5 member advisory committee
entitled the "DuPont Plaza Select Committee" which is to remain in
existence until (A) the said Committee shall have monitored, reviewed
and presented a critique on the Consultant's Study to be performed
of the configuration and compatibility of existing and proposed build-
ings and structures in the DuPont Plaza area of downtown Miami, which
Study is to iliclude the factors, amolig others, of pedestrian movement,
aut0mobiles, the proposed DowntoWn I'e0ple "lover, or (B) for a period
of 15 drays after said completed Consultant's Study has been received
by said Committee, whichever is earlier.
Section 2. The following persons are hereby appointed to said
Committee to serve for the period said Committee remains in existence:

The City Commission at its February 11, 1981 meeting passed a motion
of intent (M81-106) to create a 5 member Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee
for the purpose of monitoring, reviewing and critiquing a consultant
study of the DuPont Plaza area no later than 15 days following receipt
of the consultant study.
To date, members of the City Commission have submitted three (4) nominees
for this Committee:

2) Wilfredo Borroto, Architect
3) Xavier Suarez, Attorney
4) Glenn Buff, Architect
A resolution has been prepared for the creation of the DuPont Plaza Select
Committee and the appointment of the membership.

Mr. Klein heads Florida Po:•:er & Light Company's effort in economic
development. His previous experience in the Company included
various engineering and sales positions including District and
Division management. fie is a Registered Professional Engineer and
is active in many state, area and national organizations.
lie :orks closely with industrial prospects, State Department of
CerCT,erce, chambers of commerce and industrial authorities in assisting
ne%.., and existing industry expansion in Florida.
lie actively supports economic development through lectures, workshops,
and seminars, and aggressively c,,orks for improved vocational educational
programs to support the state's economic development efforts. His role
in formulating the intensive training program providing the required
high technology skills for the Utility Power Corporation plant was a
major_ contribution for the state and will be used as a model,
r-o��parable to any :state, for future expansions to Florida,
He is largely responsible for two major industrial expansions into
Florida; narr.02Ly, Utility Power Corporation in `ianatee County, a sub-
sidiary of: Allis-Chalmers and Siemens AG, and Siemens Telecommunications
in Palm Beach County, a wholly -owned company by Siemens AG. These two
facilities represent approximately $200 million investment in this
country and will employ over 2,000 highly skilled workers. In addition,
Mr. Mein had a significant role in Florida's being selected for plant
expansions by Cutler -Hammer in Manatee County and Westinghouse in
Broward County. to has assisted the Division of Economic Development
in Tallahassee and communities throughout the state in locating a
number of lessor :;noon manufacturing facilities in Florida.
