CQ CT7 -- "It is recommended that the attached agreement be executed between the City of Miami and the International Center of Florida, for the purpose of developing, preparing and coordinating the opening ceremonies of the Telecom- , " munications Fair entitled COMUNICACIONES EXPO '81 to be held in Miami, Florida y coduring April 26-30, 1981." We have learned that COMUNICACIONES EXPO '81 is already sold out and all indications are that it will be an extremely successful event. An event of this magnitude in the telecom- munications/computer industry will have a permeating impact on the local economy and will further establish Miami as an international center of trade and commerce. In addition, COMUNICACIONES EXPO 181 will enhance the expansion of the market in this industry locally; an industry in which Latin American businesses and governments are currently spending billions of dollars annually. To this end, it is recommended that the City of Miami join efforts with the State of Florida, which has contributed $25,000 toward defraying the costs of the fair, and participate by lending financial assistance in the amount of $10,000 to this project. These funds are to be used in connection with the opening ceremonies of COMUNICACIONES EXPO 181 intended to welcome attending buyers, Latin American government officials and their staffs, VIPs, etc. Funding for this project will come from the Department of Trade & Commerce's budget.
