THE: AMOUNT OF $2,000 CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION
AND A SEVE RABILITY CLAUSE- AND DISPENSING WITH THE RE-
QUIREAiENT OF READING THE SAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY
A VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR-FTFTIIS OF THE NIEM13ERS OF
THE COHNIT SS I ON .
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8719 on October 26,
1977, establishing resources 'ind appropriations for grant funds zinticipated by
the City of Miami, Florida, and for corresponding City matc}iing funds; and
MHEREAS, the Kennedy Foundation has awarded the City of 'Miami a grant of
$1,000.00 to carry out a program to educate parents, guardians, and/or sib-
lings of handicapped individuals in methods to encourage the handicapped person
to participate in organized leisure programs such as swimming, sports, and play-
ground activities; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that special programs and ac-
tivities must be initiated by the City if handicapped persons are to partici-
pate fully in the leisure programs available within the City's parks; and
WHE11EAS, a sum of $1,000.00 is available from Fiscal Year Special Programs
and Accounts, 1,Iatcliing Funds for Federal Grants, to provide the required cash
match for the grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, 131E IT ORDAINED BY THE COIiriISSION OF THE CITY OF MIADII,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted October 26, 1977, as
amended, is hereby further amended in the following particulais:l/
"Section 1. The folloi%ying Trust and Agency Funds
are hereby established and resources are hereby
appropriated as described herein:

Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they
are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are
hereby repealed.
Section 3, if any section, part of section, paragraph, clause,
phrase, or word of this ordinances is declared invalid, the remaining provi-
sions of this ordinance shall not be affected.
Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance on two sepa-
rate days is hereby dispensed with by a vote of not less than four -fifths of
the members of the Commission.

IT IS RECOMIMENDED THAT THE SUMMARY GRANT APPROPRIATIONS
ORDINANCE BE AMENDED ESTABLISHING A NEW TRUST AND AGENCY
FUND ENTITLED: "LET'S PLAY TO GROIN', AND APPROPRIATING
FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF SAME IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,006;
CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE:
AND DISPENSING WITI-1 THE REQUIREMENT OF READING THE SAME
ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY A VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR -
FIFTHS OF THE 'MEMBERS OF THE COIND-IISSION.
Let's Play to Grob is funded by the ,Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr, Foundation to
carry out a program to educate parents, guardians, and/or siblings of
handicapped individuals in methods to encourage them to participate as
families in organized leisure programs such as swimming, sports, and play-
ground activities. Tivo thousand ($2,000.00) dollars has been allocated
for Let's Play to Grow. One thousand ($1,000.00) dollars from the Kennedy
Foundation and one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars is available from fiscal
year 1981 Special Programs and Accounts Matching Funds for Federal Grants.
It is the recommendation of this Department that the attached ordinance be
adopted.
