Per this Ordinance amending Section 53-146, the tax on admissions to the Miami Baseball Stadium for the use of the entire stadium and field (for festival seating) has increased from 10% to 12% of the gross admission price. With the 2% increase on gross admissions, we (Stadiums and Marinas Department) will provide traffic control and security on the out- side of the stadium, before, during and after the event as part of event services. Security requirements vary based on the group or act and crowd size. For the most part, the extra 2% will offset the cost of security based on the following example: ` A concert with 28,000 fans will.generate $350,000 gross ticket revenue. The 2% extra use fee on the above gross will pro- duce $7,000. Police costs estimated for this same event would be $6,825. The use rate of 12% is in line with rates charged at other sports facilities holding rock concerts as follows: Tampa Stadium 10% Tangerine Bowl 10% to 12% Gator Bowl 10% All of the above rates include police security and traffic control. 927 1 Continuation Change in Rental Rate for use of Miami taseball 8tadium Any increase in rates osier the proposed 12% at the present time would seriously jeopardize further rock concert business at Miami Stadium, It is requested that this proposed Ordinance be scheduled on the City Commission Agenda of May 28, 1981: cc: R.
