HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-23-0298City of Miami Resolution R-23-0298 alldl 11 li.Rl I + Legislation File Number: 14109 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 7/13/2023 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF SECTION 8 HOUSING PROGRAM FUNDS, IN THE PROJECTED AMOUNT OF $4,422,300.00 FOR RENTAL ASSISTANCE, AND IN THE PROJECTED AMOUNT OF $507,000.00 FOR PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION, FOR A TOTAL PROJECTED AMOUNT OF $4,929,300.00 FROM FISCAL YEAR ("FY") 2023-2024 ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has four hundred forty-three (443) units under Section 8 contracts; and WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") has advised the City that the projected allocation for the Section 8 Housing Program for Fiscal Year (TY") 2023-2024 shall be available in the projected amount of $4,422,300.00 for rental assistance payments and $507,000.00 for program administration, for a total projected amount of $4,929,300.00; and WHEREAS, the figures stated herein are projections, and the City Administration may need to adjust the final figures once released by HUD; and WHEREAS, the City's Administration recommends the acceptance of Section 8 Funds for FY 2023-2024 in the total estimated amount of $4,929,300.00; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acceptance of Section 8 Housing Program funds in the projected amount of $4,422,300.00 for rental assistance and in the projected amount of $507,000.00 for program administration, for a total projected amount of $4,929,300.00 for FY 2023-2024, is authorized.' Section 3. These allocations will be adjusted in direct proportion to the actual allocation of Section 8 funds provided by HUD for FY 2023-2024 without the need for further City Commission action. The City Manager is authorized' to execute any and all necessary documents for said purpose. Section 5.
