TO SERVE AS AN ALT['RNATL *IEI,IBER OF THE
URBAN DEVELOPMENT REVIEW BOARD.
WjII'REAS, the Urban Development Review Board Was estab-
lished by Resolution No. 42702 dated September 9, .1971, as
amended by Resolution No. 75-1070 dated November 24, 1975,
to assist the Planning Department and Zoning Board in review-
ing development plans throughout the City and in recommending
bonus provisions and other pertinent information in certain
zoning districts; and
WHEREAS, a vacancy presently exists for an archi.tcct to
serve as an alternate member of the Urban I)eVU1opmCnt Rev iet"
Board; and
11,1HEREAS, the South Florida Chapter American Institute of
Architects has presented its list of nominees to fill the
aforementioned vacancy;

It is requested that the City Commission
fill the current vacancy on the Urban
Development Review Board from the list
of nominees submitted by the Florida
South Chapter of the American Institute
of Architects, per the attached resolution.
An architect number regular vacancy currently exists oil the Ur-
ban Development Review Board. (See current menbershi.p attached).
This Board assists the Planning Department and Zoning I3oard in
reviewing development plans and recommending bonus provisions
principally in the Brickell Zoning di:;tricts.
The Florida South Chapter of the American Institute of Archi-
tects has submitted seven nominees, one of which has withdrawn.
The personnel information forms and resumes of the other six
are attached.
In maRin ; this appointment. the Commission could either a) fill
the regular vacancy or b) desii;nate Mr. 1fiddlebrooks, architect
alternate, as the regular inember and fill the vacated al i ernate
slot with the new appointment. Tiro resolutions have been pre-
pared. If option a) is taken, only one resolution, dosignat-
in; the regular member,need be made. If option b) is taken, both
resolutions, one designating, Mr. Middlebrooks as regular member
and one designating a new alternate need to be made.
In requesting the filing of these forms we requested each appli-
cant to note any education, experiences and/or expertise in the
field of historic preservation or restoration and several have done
so. The reason for the request is the UDRB is designated as the
review board for the pendin„; Heritage Conservation Zoning Di.,;trict.
Such expertise will also be valuable if the final Heritage Conser-
vation Ordinance conies on line and a new beard is established to
carry out said regulations.
Should you have any questions, Richard Whipple of this Department
has been coordinating; this activity.
It is further requested that this item be scheduled oil the
Commission agenda of June 1.1, 1981.
