Chhabra City Internal Au( Office of Intern June 1, 1081 Appointments to the Miami Audit Advisory Committee It is recommended that the City Commission 1) -- appoint two (2) individuals to serve on the newly -- created Miami Audit Advisory Committee with said appointments to include: City Manager or his designee, and one (1) citizen member. 2) specify . terns of appointments of three citizen members. On February 26, 1981 the City Commission adopted Ordinance E9245 creating the Miami Audit Advisory Committee which resulted from recommendations made by Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc. to assist in improving the City's audit procedures and programs. The me„ibership and terms of the Miami Audit Advisory Conmittee consist of the following: MEMBERSHIP TER" *1 City Commissioner 1 yr. City tanager or his designee 1 yr. *1 Citizen meriher 1 vr. *1 Citizen member 2 yrs. 1 Citizen member 3 yrs. *dote: Commissioner Joe Carollo designated on April 23, 1981. Two citizen members (Ray Rodriguez and Joshua High) appointed on April 23, 1981, and '11ay 28, 19,91, respec- tively without specifying terms. According to my understanding, at its meeting on IMay 28, 1981, the City Commission requested Commissioner Plummer to recommend a suitable citizen member for appointment to the Miami Audit Advisory Committee. Minimum requirements (of education and experience) and desirable qualifications were established at the April 9, 1981 Commission meeting and are summarized as follows: Minimum Requirements 1. Education - Undergraduate college degree with emphasis in business and/or finance ex. accounting, business . ~ - 1; L -98 Howard V. Gary Page 2 administration, financial management. 2. Experience - 5 years of direct handling of an organization -wide audit program in the private or public sector. Desirable Qualifications 1. Involvement and recognition in professional organizations. 2. Professional certification (ex. CPA) 3. Publications in professional journals It is recomimended that the two appointments (City Manager or designee and one citizen member) be made to the Miami Audit Advisory Committee and that the terms of the three citizen members be specified at the June 8, 1981, City Commission meeting. /cl REF:/1o/DD
