A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO CONTINUE THE CONTRACT SERVICES OF
HENRY THOMPSON AS PROJECT COORDINATOR OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI/UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI JAMES
L. KNIGHT INTERNATIONAL CENTER PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the professional services of HENRY THOMPSON have been
engaged on a contract basis by the CITY OF MIAMI since April, 1978; and
WHEREAS, HENRY THOMPSON is familiar with all of the Federal require-
ments for the administration of the E.D.A. and UDAG Federal Grants and
other federal requirements for the project; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 80-401 on June 6, 1980, the City
extended the Contract of HENRY THOMPSON subject to a maximum expenditures
of $25,000 and this funding has been expended; and
WHEREAS, there are at least several months remaining in the adminis-
tration of two Federal Grants concerning the Center Project of the City
of Miami/University of Miami James L. Knight International Center Project;
and
WHEREAS, Federal Requirements for a portion of the project are
phasing out and it will be necessary to assign Henry Thompson other
responsibilities; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to extend and
amend the City's contract with HENRY TIOMPSON for professional services
as Project Coordinator in conjunction with the City of Miami/University
of Miami James L. Knight International Center Project for so long a JWrioI

expenditure of $15,000 from said Center Project Fund for said services.

henry Thompson has been engaged under an employment contract by the City
since April 1978, as a project coordinator on the City of .4iami/University
of Miami James L. Knight International Center project. His employment
with the City was extended by the City Commission, Resolution 8-401, sub-
ject to a maximum expenditure of $25,000 and this funding has been
expended. The enclosed resolution is to provide authorization for the
additional funding for the City Manager to extend Henry Thompson's
employment contract.
Since his employment with the City,Henry Thompson has been primarily
handling the administration and reporting the Federal Requirements for
the EDA Grant on the Convention Center base building and for the UDAG
Grant on the Parking Garage. In addition, he has been responsible to
oversee compliance with U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Federal -
Contract Compliance Pro(;rams. Although the U.S. Department of Commerce
Economic Development Administration (EDA) is phasing out, compliance
with U.S. Department of Labor requirements will be continuing. The
Contractor and subcontractors are required to submit Payroll and ,'Monthly
Employment Utilization Reports through completion of the project.
henry Thompson will be assigned other administrative responsibilities on
a trial basis. The funding up to a maximum of $15,000 is available from
Convention Center Bond funds.
