1'tis recommended that the enclosed Resolution
engaging the firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell &
Company to update the City's indirect cost
allocation plan, at a cost not to exceed $10,000,
4.be adopted.
fihe City adopted an indirect cost allocation during fiscal year 1980 based
On costs for fiscal year 1.978. That plan is used to charge costs to grants
teceived by the City from other governments, as well as general fund overhead
to other city funds who receive those services. During fiscal year 1980,
the City was able to recover more than $300,000 from the Federal government
for this concept.
It will be to the City's advantage to have this plan updated with fiscal
year 1980 financial information which will provide more accurate and probably
larger charges to other governmental units.
The cost of $10,000 quoted by Peat, 'Manaick, 'Mitchell & Co., is lower than the
lowest quote obtained from other reputable firms which was $13,500. The low fee.
quoted by P.?M..M.& Co., was probably due to the fact that they had already per-
formed this type of work for the city.
