It is recommended that the City Commission
authorize the City Manager to establish and
submit to the Dade County Property Appraiser's
Office a proposed millaae rate for the City of
Miami for Fiscal Year 1982.
The State Legislature enacted a new law relating to ad valorem taxes on June
30, 1980. This law is entitled "Truth in Millaqe" (TRIM Bill), and contains
requirements that must be met for the development of the FY182 Budget.
According to the TRIM Bill, the City must determine a proposed millaae rate
and submit it to the Property Appraiser. This proposed millage rate will
reflect the levy necessary to realize property tax revenues anticipated in
the FY182 Budget. The rate is not binding on the- City, but must be
sumbitted to the Property Appraiser for the purpose of preparing tax
notices.
It is suggested that the attached resolution be placed on the July 23, 1981,
Commission Agenda.
