IN THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $373,061.50, BID "A" (HIGHWAY) OF THE PROPOSAL, FOR WYNDWOOD COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PAVING PROJECT - PHASE V; WITH MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE "FEDERAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK -GRANT" IN THE AMOUNT OF $373,061.50 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $41,037.50 TO COVER THE COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $7,461.00 TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING, TESTING LABORA- TORIES, AND POSTAGE; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM WHEREAS, sealed bids were received July 7, 1981 for WYNDWOOD COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PAVING PROJECT - PHASE V, BID "A" (HIGHWAY); and WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the bid of Redland Construction Company, Inc., for Bid "A" (Highway) of the proposal, is the lowest responsible bid and recommends that a contract be awarded to said firm; and WHEREAS, funds for this project are available from the Federal Community Development Block Grant Fund; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The July 7, 1981 bid of Redland Con- struction Company, Inc. in the proposed amount of $373,061.50 for the project entitled WYNDWOOD COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PAVING PROJECT - PHASE V, BID "A" (HIGHWAY) of the proposal, based on unit prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. Section 2. The amount of $373,061.50 is hereby allocated from the account entitled Federal Community Development Block Grant Fund to cover the cost of said contract. Briefly, the work required for this project will be the construction of one -mile of street on: N.W. 32 Street (Miami Ave-N.W. 2 Ave.) N.W. 33 Street (Miami Ave-N.W. 2 Ave.) N.W. 34 Street (Miami Ave-N.W. 1 Ave.) N.W. 34 Terrace (Miami Ave-N.W. 1 Ave.) N.W. 35 Street (N.W. 1 Ave-N.W. 2 Ave.) N.W. 1 Avenue (N.W. 32-34 St. & N.W. 35-36 St.) Improvements will include asphaltic pavement, concrete sidewalk, concrete curbs and/or gutters, a covered ditch drainage system and landscaping. Plans and specifications are to be returned in good order and unmarked within 10 days after bids have been received. The City Commission reserves the right to waive any informality in any bid, and the City Manager may reject any or all bids, and readvertise. Proposal includes the time of performance, and specifications contain provisions for liquidated damages for failure to complete the work on tlWe . In addition to these measures, contractors and subcontractors will be required to comply with the provisions of Section 3 (federal regulation) which require all developers, contractors, and subcontractors create feasible opportunities to employ and train residents in the area of the project; and give preference in subcontracting and purchasing of materials to businesses located in or owned in substantial part by persons residing in the area of the project. - 1 -
