AT A COST OF $14,943.05; BID OF FIRE FIGHTERS EQUIPMENT CO. AT A COST OF $17,062.63; BID OF SANFORD FIRE APPARATUS AT A COST OF $9,492.32; BID OF HALPRIN SUPPLY CO. AT A COST OF $9,151.75, AND HUMAT, INC. AT A COST OF $25,500.00; AT A TOTAL COST OF $76,149.75; ALLOCATING FUNDS THERE— FOR FROM THE FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT FRANCHISE FEES: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE THE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received August 10, 1981 for the furnishing of Fire Fighting Equipment for the Department of fire; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 31 potential suppliers and 8 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the Florida Power and Light Franchise Fees; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Fire for the purpose of replacement of worn equipment; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and The Department of Fire recommend that the bids received from Biscayne Fire Equipment Co., Fire Fighters Equipment Co., Sanford Fire Apparatus, Halprin Supply Co., and Humat, Inc. be accepted as the most advantageous bids to the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The August 10, 1981 bids for furnishing Fire Fighting Equipment for the Department of Fire on a contract basis for one year as follows: Bid of Biscayne Fire Equipment Co. at a cost of $14,943.05, Bid of Fire Fighters Equipment Co. at a cost of $17,062.63, Bid of Sanford Fire Apparatus at a cost of $9,492.32, Bid of Halprin Supply Co. at a cost of $9,151.75, and Bid of Humat, Inc. at a cost of $25,500.00; at a total cost of $76,149.75 are hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Florida Power & Light Franchise Fees. Award of Bid, Resolution, Tabulation Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received August 10, 1981 for furnishing Fire Fighting Equipment to the Department of Fire for one year on a contract basis. Invitations were mailed to 31 potential suppliers and 8 bids were received as per the attached Award of Bid. 10 "No Bids" were also received. Funds for this purchase are available in the Florida Power & Light Franchise Fees. _ The Fire Fighting Equipment consists of approximately 52 different items including Hose Nozzles, Valves, Adaptors, Clamps, Reels, Por- table Generators, Ladders, Smoke Ejectors, Fire Extinguishers, and Fire Fighting Tools, etc. The Award is recommended to the 5 bidders submitting the lowest prices and meeting all the specifications as follows: Bidder Amount Biscayne Fire Equipment Co. CERTIFIED AS TO AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS/SOURCE - X�i�-CliYi2 Department of Finance BID EVALUATION: The potential bidders list for Fire Fighting Equipment was compiled from questionaires re- ceived from manufacturers and distributors, nationwide. Ten of these submitted "No Bids", and three others submitted bids but failed to furnish the required Bid Bond, which was 10% of the total bid. The recommended award is to the 5 bidders whose prices were lowest and who complied with all the specifications. All other bids meet the specifications.
