A RESOLUTION CONVEYING THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND
GRIEF OF THE CITY COMMISSION AND THE CITIZENS
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS
OF OFFICER NATHANIEL BROOM UPON HIS TRAGIC DEATH
ON SEPTEMBER 2, 1981 IN THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS
DUTY.
WHEREAS, City of Miami Police Officer Nathaniel Broom gave
his last full measure of dedication and commitment on September 2,
1981, when his life tragically ended during the performance of his
duty; and
WHEREAS, Officer Nathaniel Broom's family and friends, as
well as his fellow officers and the City of Miami, share in the
loss of this courageous, young man and pledge their mutual efforts
to commemorate the senseless waste of this young life by striving
to prevent such occurrences in the future; and
WHEREAS, a tragedy of this magnitude serves to unite each of
us with a common purpose, both to perpetuate the memory of Officer
Nathaniel Broom for his ultimate sacrifice on behalf of this com-
munity and to offer our total, unswerving support for the gallant
men and women in uniform who uphold the law of the land;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission and the citizens of the City
of Miami hereby convey the deepest sympathy to the family and
friends of Officer Nathaniel Broom upon his tragic death on Septem-
ber 2, 1981 in the performance of his duty and share their profound
sense of loss and offer this resolution as an official expression
of remorse and immense grief.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 10 day of September , 1981.
