REFCRENCES- Sale of Surplus Motor Vehicles
FNCLOSURES. One
This Department was contacted by the Mayor of the City of
San Salvador, E1 Salvador, through Mr. Marcos Kohly of the
Department of Information and Visitors concerning the avail-
ability of surplus garbage trucks.
A representative of my Department provided the technical in-
formation as well as a tour of surplus garbage equipment. A
price of $4,400 per unit was quoted by this Department to the
representatives of San Salvador.
It was determined that they wished to purchase the following
five units:

At the time a public auction had been announced and I indicated
to the representatives that in order to withhold these units
from the public auction I would require a 10% deposit to guaran-
tee their purchase. The deposit was received. The City is now
in receipt of the total payment for five vehicles in the amount
of $22,000. This amount is equal to or exceeds past sales
through public action.
I, therefore, recommend that the attached resolution be placed
on the September 10, 1981 agenda for Commission approval.
