HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-81-0809RESOLUTION NO. 81 - 8 U 9 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DISPOSAL BY SALE OF CERTAIN NO -LONGER SERVICEABLE EQUIPMENT, TO WIT: 5 MOTOR VEHICLES AT A FIXED PRICE TO THE CITY OF SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR, WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE CITY OF SAN SALVADOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING AND TRANS- PORTATION COSTS. WHEREAS, the City of Miami has 5 garbage trucks which are no longer serviceable for City needs; and WHEREAS, these vehicles can serve no need within any adminis- trative department of the City; and WHEREAS, the City of San Salvador, E1 Salvador, will be able to utilize these vehicles for worthwhile uses and has requested that the vehicles be sold to it; and WHEREAS, since the the "Sister City" of San Salvador, Hollywood, Florida, has no available vehicles to accomodate San Salvador's request; and WHEREAS, the Office of Sister Cities International has recom- mended and approved the herein transfer; and WHEREAS, the herein negotiated prices are equa- _o the prices which would be reasonably anticipated from the sale of this surplus equipment through public auction; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. One This Department was contacted by the Mayor of the City of San Salvador, E1 Salvador, through Mr. Marcos Kohly of the Department of Information and Visitors concerning the avail- ability of surplus garbage trucks. A representative of my Department provided the technical in- formation as well as a tour of surplus garbage equipment. A price of $4,400 per unit was quoted by this Department to the representatives of San Salvador. It was determined that they wished to purchase the following five units: Make International Model City Number Garwood Refuse Body LP-720 1912B if it 1913B "it1914B " of of it 1918B it It It it 1922B At the time a public auction had been announced and I indicated to the representatives that in order to withhold these units from the public auction I would require a 10% deposit to guaran- tee their purchase. The deposit was received. The City is now in receipt of the total payment for five vehicles in the amount of $22,000. This amount is equal to or exceeds past sales through public action. I, therefore,recommend that the attached resolution be placed on the September 10, 1981 agenda for Commission approval. cc: Law Department 81-809
