HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-81-0790RESOLUTION NO. 9 0 A RESOLUTION GRANTING MUNICIPAL USE TO PERMIT CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF A MUNICIPAL USE - A 120' HIGH EMERGENCY BROADCASTING TOWER - AT FIRE STATION NO. 12, LOCATED ON TRACT "B"; MANOR PARK (50-85), BEING APPROXIMATELY 1455 NORTHWEST 46TH STREET, AS PER ORDINANCE NO. 6871, ARTICLE IV GENERAL PROVISIONS, SECTION 35, AND AS PER PLAITS ON FILE, ZONED R-2 (TWO - FAMILY DWELLING). WHEREAS, the Miami Planning Advisory Board, at its meeting of July 15, 1981, Item No. 2, following an advertised hearing, adopted Resolution No. PAB 45-81 BY A 4 to 3 v6te RECOMMENDING DENIAL of construction and operation of a Municipal Use, as hereinafter set forth; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, notwithstanding the recommendation of denial by the Miami Planning Advisory Board, and after careful consideration and due deliberation of this matter, deems it advisable and in the best interest of the City of Miami and its inhabitants to grant this Municipal Use requested, as hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Request for Municipal use to permit construction and operation of a 120' high emergency Broadcasting Tower - at Fire Station No. 12, located on Tract "B"; MANOR PARK (50-85), being approximately 1455 N. W. 46th Street, as per Ordinance 6871, ARTICLE IV GENERAL PROVISIONS, Section 35, and as per plans on file, zoned R-2 (Two Family Dwelling) be and the same is hereby granted. APPROXIMATELY 1455 NW 46TH STREET Tract B MANOR PARK (50-85) Consideration of a recommendation to con- struct and operate a municipal use - a 130 foot high emergency broadcasting tower - at Fire Station #12 per ARTICLE IV GENERAL PROVISION, Section 35 of Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance 6871, on above site zoned R-2 Two Family Dwelling District. REQUEST To permit an emergency broadcasting tower next to Fire Station #12 and adjacent to Manor Park. BACKGROUND The site of Fire Station #12 and the immediately surrounding area are zoned R-2 Two Family; broadcasting Towers are ordinarily excluded from residential districts. ANALYSIS The Department of Computers and Communications has recommended installation of this emergency broadcasting tower to provide better coverage for Police and Fire emergency radio communica- tions. This tower would be located immediately next to existing Fire Station #12. This tower because of its limited height would have little adverse visual impact on Manor Park, which is adjacent,or on the surrounding residential area. This project is included in the 80'-81' Capital Improvement Program. RECOMMENDATION PLANNING DEPARTMENT Approval PLANNING Deferred on June 17, 1981 by a 7-0 vote.
