HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-81-0834�0-885- ` 12/Y7180) zs RESOLUTION NO. 81 -834 A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING THE SUM OF $334,386 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, PUBLIC SAFETY FUND, TO HIRE 30 ADDITIONAL PUBLIC SERVICE AIDES WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE; SAID EXPENDITURE TO PROVIDE FOR SALARIES AND FULL STAFFING, INCLUDING UNIFORMS, EQUIPMENT, TRAINING AND VEHICLES, FOR THE 30 NEW POSITIONS. WHEREAS, the City Commission passed Motion 80-885 on December 17, 1980, which provided for hiring 30 additional Public Service Aides within the Department of Police; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami and the Department of Police are fully committed to an Affirmative Action Plan of hiring at least 80% minorities and women into all in -hiring positions; and WHEREAS, the Public Service Aide Program has exhibited a highly successful tradition of employing minorities and women, and of placing personnel into law enforcement positions; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Special Programs and Accounts, Public Safety Fund, to cover the cost of hiring said 30 additional aides; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The sum of $334,386 is hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Public Safety Fund, to hire 30 additional Public Service Aides within the Department of Police; said expenditure to provide for salaries and full staffing, including uniforms, equipment, training and vehicles, for said 30 new positions. The Police Department estimates that $334,386 will be required to provide for salaries and full staffing, (uniforms, equipment, training and vehicles) of the thirty (30) new positions for the fiscal year 80-81. On Wednesday, December 17, 1980, City Commission Motion M-80-885 was ap- proved by the City Commission, allowing the implementation of a total of fifty (50) Public Service Aide positions within the Police Department. This resolution ratifies the preceding motion of M-80-885 approved by the City Commission on December 17, 1980.
