HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-81-0823A RESOLUTION NO. 8 1` 8 2 3 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING ANNA MARIE ADKER AND MAXINE SCONIERS AS MEMBERS OF THE OVERT014N COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITIZEN PARTICIPA- TION PLAN FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 80-563 on July 24, 1980, the City Commission adopted a Citizen Participation Plan for the Community Development Block Grant Program; and WHEREAS, in accordance with said plan an election was held in the Overtown Community Development target area on October 15, 1980; and WHEREAS, voters in the Overtown target area elected a ten member elected/appointed Board as their structure of citizen participation; and WHEREAS, on June 9, 1981, William Johnson, Chairperson of the Overtown Community Development Advisory Board submitted a written resignation from the Overtown Community Development Advisory Board; and WHEREAS, on June 17, 1981, a letter of resignation was received from Sam Badanes, Board member; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Citizen Participation Plan authorized the City of Miami Commission to appoint a member to fill any vacant position to serve the remainder of the predecessor's term. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. ANNA MARIE ADKER and MAXINE SCONIERS are hereby appointed as members of the Overtown Community Development Advisory Board. Section 2. The aforenamed individuals shall serve the remainder of the predecessors' term through October 15, 1982. CITY COMMISSION MUTING OF SEP2 41981 um"" NO...... ace............................ F3 Section 3. The aforenamed individuals shall comply with the City of Miami Citizen Participation Plan and shall be subject to the same conditions and restrictions outlined in said plan. Gary 981 AUG DATE ( IAu�gust 11, 1981 F1LE City Manager FROM Azliman, Director Department of Community Development SUBJECT Appointments to Overtown Community Development Advisory Board REFERENCES: City Commission Agenda: September 10, 1981 ENCLOSURES It is recommended that the City Commission appoint two individuals to the Overtown Community Development Advisory Board to fill vacant positions that have been created due to the resignation of two Advisory Board members, per the attached resolution. On June 9, 1981, William Johnson, Chairperson of the Overtown Commun- ity Development Advisory Board, submitted his resignation from the Board. On June 17, 1981, a letter of resignation was received from Sam Badanes, another Board member. In accordance with the Citizen Participation Plan, it is the authorit of the City Commission to fill vacancies on a Community Development Board. The appointees will serve the remainder of the predecessors' term, which, in this case, is through October 15, 1982. At the July 14, 1981 meeting,the Overtown Community Development Advi: ory Board recommended the following names for consideration by the City Commission to fill the vacancies: - 1) Maxine Sconiers, Principal, Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School, 1801 N.W. 1st Place 2) Ana Marie Adker, resident, 238 N.W. 8th Street 3) Walter G. Please add her name to the list of those to be considered by the City Commission at the September 10, 1981 meeting.
