The Department of Public Works recommends
the adoption of a resolution authorizing
A,
an increase in the contract of $56,000.00
for the Latin Quarter Paving Project
Phase I (2nd Bidding), the additional
funds required to come from the U. S.
Department of Commerce Economic Develop-
ment matching "Latin Quarter" Grant.
During the construction of the project we have encountered much
weak and substandard curb and gutter that we must replace. We are
also experiencing an overrun of several other bid items quantities
because existing conditions are worse than anticipated. We esti-
mate that the total overrun will be $56,000.00.
To avoid reducing the limits of the project to compensate for the
overrun, we are requesting an increase in contract amount to cover
it. The E.D.A. has already given approval of a Change Order
increasing the contract amount by $56,000.00 contingent upon funds
being available from within the grant. The funds are available.
