A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MIRI

CONSTRUCTION, INC. IN THE PROPOSED AMOUNT
OF $354,157.76, TOTAL BID OF THE PROPOSALi
FOR BUENA VISTA C.D. PAVING PROJECT -
PHASE VI; WITH MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED
FROM THE "FEDERAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT" IN THE AMOUNT OF $150,000.00
TO PARTIALLY COVER THE CONTRACT COST; WITH
MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE "CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT FUND" IN THE AMOUNT OF
$204,157.76 TO COVER THE REMAINDER OF THE
CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND
THE AMOUNT OF $38,957.24 TO COVER THE
COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM
SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $7,083.00 TO COVER
THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING,
TESTING LABORATORIES, AND POSTAGE; ALLO-
CATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF
$9,182.00 TO COVER THE INDIRECT COST;
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM '
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received September 15,
1g81 for BUENA VISTA C.D. PAVING PROJECT - PHASE VI; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the bid
of Miri Construction, Inc., for the total bid of the
proposal,
is the lowest responsible bid and recommends
that a contract be awarded to said firm; and
WHEREAS, funds for this project in the amount
of $150,000.00 are available from the "Federal Community
Development Block Grant Fund";
and
WHEREAS, the Capital Improvements Appropriation
Ordinance
No. 9199, as amended, was adopted on November 6,
1980, and
monies are available for the proposed amount of
the contract, project expense, incidentals, and indirect
cost from
the account entitled "Capital Improvement Fund",
as set forth under Section IX, Item C(i)-2, of said
ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION

Bids were received September 15, 1981 for rebuilding 0.7
mile of streets in area bordered by N. W. 46 Street,
N. W. 50 Street, N. 11. 5 Avenue, and N. W. 6 Avenue.
Improvements will include new asphaltic pavement, concrete
curbs and/or gutters, concrete sidewalk, drainage, and
landscaping.
As reflected in the tabulation of bids, the $354,157.76
bid of Miri Construction, Inc. is the lowest responsible
bid for total bid of the proposal.

Sealed bids for construction of BUE14A VISTA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PAVING
PROJECT PHASE VI (B-4469) will be received by the City Manager and
the City Clerk of the City of Miami, Florida at 2:00 P.M. on the 15th
day of September, 1981 in the City Clerkts office, first floor of the
Miami City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive, Dinner Key, Miami, Florida
33133, at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read:

Construction will include asphaltic pavement, concrete curbs and gutters,
concrete sidewalk, a covered ditch drainage system, and landscaping.

Highway Engineer.
All bids shall be submitted in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders
and Specifications. Plans and specifications may be obtained from the
office of the director, Department of Public Works, 275 N. W. 2 Street
(4th floor), Miami, Florida. Plans and specifications are to be returned
in good order and unmarked within 10 days after bids have been received.
Those minority or target area contractors/small businesses interested in
submitting bids are advised to contact Contractors Training and Develop-
ment, Inc. (754-4903) to be provided technical assistance in preparing
bid packages.
The City Commission reserves the right to waive any informality in any
bid, and the City Manager may reject any or all bids, and readvertise.
Proposal includes the time of performance, and specifications contain
provisions for liquidated damages for failure to complete the work on time.
In addition to these measures, contractors and subcontractors will be
required to comply with the provisions of Section 3 (federal regulation)
which require all developers, contractors, and subcontractors create
feasible opportunities to employ and train residents in the area of .
the project; and give preference in subcontracting and purchasing of
materials to businesses located in or owned in substantial part by persons
residing in the area of the project.
No bidder may withdraw his bid within 30 days after actual date of the
opening thereof, unless modified in Division 2 - Special Conditions of
the specifications. The estimated cost of this project is $375,000.
