A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH JOHNSON AND
HIGGINS OF FLORIDA, INC., TO INSTALL A
RISK MANAGT, f1ENT INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR THE
SELF INSURANCE FUND ADMTNTSTERED BY THE
RISK MANAGEMENT DIVISION OF THE FINANCE
DEPARTMENT; ALLOCATING THE SUM OF $43, 300
FROM THE 1982 SELF INSURANCE FUND BUDGET
TO COVER THE COST OF INSTALLATION AND
ADMINISTRATION OF SAID SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, one of the two exceptions the City's Auditors
1 have about the City's financial statements relates to the
! failure to provide for all losses incurred in the Self Insu-
rance Fund, due to the lack of a system that provides the
historical data needed to compensate current losses, and;
WHEREAS, the City has recently surveyed the data process-
ing systems available in the market through insurance agents
or automated service firms; and
WHEREAS, the firm of Johnson and Higgins of Florida, Inc.,
has been recently hired as the City's insurance agent, in part,
as a recognition of the outstanding system available through
this firm at a low cost; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interest of the City of
Miami to acquire the Johnson & Higgins Risk Information System
in order to comply with generally accepted accounting principles
and to better control the City's self insurance expenses;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter
into a contract with Johnson and Higgins of Florida, Inc., for
a reporting system including the terminal, printer, and main-
tenance of the equipment for the Self Insurance Fund, admini-
stered by the Risk Management Division of the Finance Depart-
ment.
Section 2. The amount of $43,300 is hereby allocated
from the Self Insurance Fund's 1982 budget to cover the cost
