A RESOLUTION AUTIIORIZTN(, TIIE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD FROM THE FLORIDA DEPART-
MENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES
FOR RECREATION PROGRAMS FOR TIIF MENTALLY
RETARDED (6T11 YEAR) AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
CONTRACT(S) AND/OR AGREEMENT(S) TO IMPLEMENT
THE PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City Manager or his representative has
applied for a grant from the Florida Department of Health
and Rehabilitative Services for Recreation Programs for the
Mentally Retarded; and

FOR THE MENTALLY RETARDED (6TH, YEAR) AND
FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EX- -=
ECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACT(S) AND/OR AGREE-
MENT(S) TO IMPLEMENT THIS PROGRAM.
The State Grant for the Mentally Retarded (6th, year) is funded by
the State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Serv-
ices in the amount of $302,767.00. In addition the City of Miami
provides a cash match in the amount of $46,000.00 for a total of
$348,767.00. The intent of this project is to provide recreational
opportunities to the City of Miami's disabled citizens. This program
will enable the Department of Leisure Services to continue to address
many of unmet needs of the disabled residing in Miami and further in-
tegrate the handicapped citizen into the mainstream of the community.
This is the sixth (6th.) year contribution of this on -going program,
which has received funding approval for Fiscal Year 1981-1982.
It is the recommendation of this Department that the attached resolu-
tion be adopted.
