A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING AND DECLARING
THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION
HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 1981 FOR THE
NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES FOR THE OFFICE
OF MAYOR AND TWO COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, a primary election was duly held on November 3,
1981 for nomination of candidates for the offices of Mayor
and two Commissioners of the City of Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, said election was duly conducted in accordance
with law including the provisions of the "Electronic Voting
Systems Act" (§101.5601 through §101.5615, F.S.); and
WHEREAS, the official returns of each of 87 election
precincts in the herein election of November 3, 1981 have
been duly certified by RALPH G. ONGIE, City Clerk, Super-
visor of Elections for the City of Miami, Florida, upon due
certification by the Supervisor of Elections for Metropolitan
Dade County, Florida, and those official returns have been
deivered to and duly canvassed by the City Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Commission finds and hereby declares
and certifies that the following candidates in their respective
groups received the number of votes set opposite their respec-
tive names in the Primary Election held in the City of Miami,
Florida, on November 3, 1981:

Section 2. The total number of ballots cast, including
absentee ballots, at said Primary Election in the 87 voting
precincts was 54,503.

Section 3. It is hereby certified and declared that in
GROUP I (For Mayor) no candidate for office in this group re-
ceived a majority of votes and the names of MAURICE A. FERRE and
MANOLO REBOSO were properly and duly placed upon the ballot in
alphabetical order as candidates for the office of Mayor in
GROUP I at the Regular Election held on November 10, 1981, these
two candidates being hereby declared to have received the greatest
vote in said Primary Election.

Section 4. It is hereby certified and declared that in
GROUP IV (For Commissioner) no candidate for office in this group
received a majority of votes and the names of DEMETRIO PEREZ, JR.
and XAVIER L. SUAREZ were properly and duly placed upon the ballot
in alphabetical order as candidates for the office of Commissioner
in GROUP IV at the Regular Election held on November 10, 1981, these
two candidates being hereby declared to have received the greatest
vote in said Primary Election.
Section 5. It is hereby certified and declared that
in GROUP V (For Commissioner) no candidate for office in this group
received a majority of votes and the names of MILLER J. DAWKINS
and LUIS C. MORSE were properly and duly placed upon the ballot in
alphabetical order as candidates for the office of Commissioner in
GROUP V at the Regular Election held on November 10, 1981, these
two candidates being hereby declared to have received the great-
est vote in said Primary Election.
Section G. The City Commission also hereby finds,
declares and certifies: (a) said Primary Election was duly
and properly held and notice thereof was duly given in accord-
ance with law; (b) all steps in connection with and leading
up to said Primary Election were duly, regularly and lawfully
taken and had; and (c) all applicable provisions of the Con-
stitution and statutes of the State of Florida, the Dade
County Election Code and the City Code have been duly com-
plied with.
Section 7. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to perform any and all incidental duties in connec-
tion herewith as required by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11 day of November, 1981.
