HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-09349ORDINANCE Not 9 ,� 4, 9 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW TRUST AND AGENCY ACCOUNT ENTITLED "MIAMI BUSINESS REPORT 198211, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF THE SAME IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF READING SAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY A VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR -FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the Department of Trade & Commerce Development has published the MIAMI BUSINESS REPORT 1981 and the business community's acceptance of the same was most favorable; and WHEREAS, the Department of Trade & Commerce Development will publish the MIAMI BUSINESS REPORT 1982; and WHEREAS, the Barnett Bank of South Florida, N. A. has expressed interest in sharing the cost of the production of said publication with the provision that proper acknowledgement be given for their financial participation; and WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. on , 1981 authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement between the City of Miami and Barnett Bank of South Florida, N. A., for the purpose of accepting their finan- cial participation in the amount of $10,000 toward the production costs of the publication entitled MIAMI BUSINESS REPORT 1982. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following Trust and Agency Fund is hereby established and resources are hereby appropriated as des- cribed herein: FUND TITLE: Miami Business Report 1982 RESOURCES! Barnett Bank of South Florida, N-A. $10 000 APPROPRIATION: Miami Business Report 1982 $10,000 Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the — remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected. Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance on two separate days is hereby dispensed with by a vote of not less than four -fifths of the members of the Commission. Castano, Director: Dept. of Trade & Commerce Development ( 1 ) "It is recommended that the attached Ordinance be adopted by the City Commission for the purpose of appropriating funds for the pro- duction of the Miami Business Report 1982 and to allow the operation of the project until payment is received by the Barnett Bank of South Florida, N. A., which will be made after the book is published." Last February, the Department of 'Trade & Commerce Development in- troduced the publication entitled Miami Business Report 1981 to the Greater Miami business community. This pullication produced by the Department of Trade & Commerce Development contained in- depth analyses of the industrial base and the overall economic activities of the Greater 7-iiami area, as well as detailed demo- graphics and other invaluable statistics. The reception and ac- ceptance of: this publication by the business community was tre- mendous and inquiries for copies of the publication were averr- tually received from all over the U. S., aswell as some coup- tries in Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. To this and, the Department of Trade & Commerce -Development will publish the, second edition of the i•9iami Business Report. This year, however, we have received the financial suL:)port of the private sector, namely Barnett Bank of S011th Florida, N.A. w�.th their contribution in the amount- of $10,000 toward defraying the cast of the produc- tion of this publication. In return, the publication will include an ackno,.ile-.Igeinent page giving proper credit to the Barnett Batik of South Florida, 1711.
