A RESOLUTION APPOINTING ONE INDIVIDUAL AS A MEMBER
OF THE ARTS -IN -PUBLIC PLACES COMMITTEE FOR A TERM
OF FIVE YEARS COMMENCING NOVEMBER 1, 1981.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 8759, February 23, 1978,
the City Commission appointed five persons to serve as members of
the Arts -in -Public Places Committee, two of whose terms expired
on May 18, 1981; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with paragraph (a) of said
Ordinance, a three member nominating committee, consisting of
representatives from the Cultural Executives Council, Inc., the
South Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and
the Dade County Council of Arts and Sciences, has nominated five (5)
candidates for consideration by the City Commission, as follows:
1. Margarita Cano
2. Teresita Falcon
3. Jane Frank
4. Lester Pancoast
and 5. Ann Sams;
WHEREAS, the City Commission, by Resolution No. 81-822,
dated September 24, 1981, selected Mr. Lester Pancoast from among
the nominees to serve on the Arts -in -Public Places Committee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following person is hereby appointed as a
member of the Arts -in -Public Places Committee for a term of five
years commencing November 1, 1981:

Proposed Resolution Selecting
One Member for the Arts -in -
Public Places Committee
It is recommended that the proposed Resolution
be placed on the agenda of the City Commission
Meeting, scheduled for November 12, 1981, whereby
the City Commission will select one person from
a list of nominees to serve as member of the

Under Ordinance No. 8759, adopted February 23, 1978, the City
Commission appointed five members to serve on the Arts -in -Public
Places Committee, two of whom were appointed for an initial term
of three years. The terms of the two members expired on May 18,
1981; namely, Mr. Andres Fabregas and Ms. LaRue (Sonny) Storm.
Under paragraph (a) of the Ordinance, a panel consisting of
representatives from the Cultural Executives Council, Inc., the
South Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and
the Dade County Council of Arts and Sciences acts as the nominating
committee for the City Commission. The nominating committee met in
June 18, 1981, and recommended five (5) candidates to fill the two
positions. On September 24, 1981, the City Commission adopted
Resolution No. 81-822, appointing Mr. Lester Pancoast to fill one
of the vacancies.
It is recommended that the City Commission select one person of
the remaining four nominees to serve on the Arts -in -Public Places
Committee, for a term of five (5) years, effective November 1, 1981.
Resumes of the nominees were submitted previously.

pointing you as a member of the ARTS -IN -PUBLIC PLACES

80-143 in connection with formal procedures to be fol-
lowed on City Commission's appointments to boards, com-
mittees and/or commissions.
