WOLFF October 14, 1981 As you may recall, I contacted you late last week on behalf of the Greater Miami Jaycees to request the City's cooperation in this year's Miss Miami Pageant sponsored by the Greater Miami Jaycees. Last year, the pageant was a great success and for the first time a young black girl was elected Miss Miami. Mayor Ferre declared a proclamation and awarded Miss Miami the key to the City of Miami at a ceremony at City Hall at which the media attended. This year, the Greater Miami Jaycees is hopeful that the City of Miami will donate the use of the Bayfront Park Auditorium for the Miss Miami Pageant. We have been advised that the date of February 7, 1982 is currently available and we respectfully request the use of the audi- torium for this purpose on that date. Additionally, the City has tradi- tionally allocated $500.00 out of its budget as a contribution to the pageant which provides an educational scholarship to the winner. We hope the City will increase its contribution this year to $750.00 to keep pace with the continuing high cost of education. As always, the Greater Miami Jaycees are greatful for the City's support in making the Miss Miami Pageant a success. Please contact me at your convenience should you wish to discuss this matter further. I look forward to hearing from you in this regard. RKB/mch cc: Hon. Mayor Ferre With warm regards, ROBERT K.
