FROM: Deputy Chief X. F. Mc ough
REFERENI.;c..FOr City Commission Meeting of
Acting Director December 10, 1981
Department of Fire ENCLOSURES:
It is recommended that Metropolitan Dade
County be authorized to temporarily house
a rescue unit at City of Miami Fire
Station #11 while Dade County's West
Miami Fire Station is being renovated,
and that the City Manager be authorized
to make final arrangements with Dade
County for the express terms and condi-
tions of said usage under the Countywide
Mutual Aid Plan.
County Manager M. R. Stierheim has requested permission for
the Metropolitan Dade County Fire Department to temporarily
station a Metro rescue unit, which serves the City of West
Miami, in the City of Miami's Fire Station #11, 5920 West
Flagler Street.
The West Miami Fire Department has recently been turned over
to Dade County and in order to provide proper fire and rescue
protection to the citizens of West Miami, the County plans to
renovate the existing West Miami facility. The renovations
will restrict fire station occupancy, thereby necessitating
this request for assistance under the Countywide Mutual Aid
Plan.
The County has proffered that they will pay for any expenses
incurred in accommodation of their rescue unit, the final
terms and conditions to be arranged by the City Manager. The
accommodation of the County's rescue unit is expected to in
no way jeopardize or diminish service to City of Miami resi-
dents in Station #11's alarm territory.
