HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-82-0055RESOLUTION NO. 82 5 J A RESOLUTION WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE CONTINUATION OF SYSTEMATIC MAINTENANCE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR THE EXIST- ING INTEGRATED PROTECTION SYSTEM AT THE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE STATION AND FACILITIES AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO CON- TINUE SUCH SERVICE TO 14ACKENHUT ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS CORPORATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,200.00 FOR ONE YEAR AND ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1981-82 BUDGET OF THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE. WHEREAS, there exists between the City of Miami and Wackenhut Electronic Systems Corporation a contract dated June 25, 1.976 for the furnishing of sys- tematic maintenance and emergency services for the security systems for the City of Miami Police Department; and WHEREAS, the City has agreed as a part of said contract that it will not resell the software system or updated changes, improvements or enhancements thereto, or any part thereof, and will hold in confidence the design, specifi- cations and associated documentations of computer operation software system, and that therefore the Wackenhut Corporation is the only source for these services; and W:iEREAS, the Police Department is pleased with the effectiveness of the systems and wishes to maintain this high level of security; and WHEREAS, the funds for this maintenance agreement are available in the 1981-82 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Police Department for the purpose of systematic maintenance and emergency services for the security system; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Police Department recommend that com- petitive bidding be waived and the bid of Wackenhut be accepted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Competitive bidding is hereby waived and the bid of the Wackenhut Electronic Systems Corporation for continuing the systematic main- tenance and emergency services for the security system for the City of Miami Police Department at a total cost of $13,200.00 for one year is hereby accepted with funds hereby allocated from the 1981-82 Operating Budget of the Department of Police. Resolution Purchasing Agent Y It is recommended that a resolutiGn be passed waiving the requirement for formal sealed bids and authorizing; the purchase of a Maintenance and Emergency Service Agreement for the exist- ing Security System at the Pol c.2 Station for a period of one year fro►^ the Wackenhut Elec- tronic Systems Corporation at a total cost of $13.200.00_. The Department of Police has requested the continuation of the Systematic Maintenance and Emergency Services for the e:tisting integrated protection system at the Police Station and Facilities. The systen was installe2 by the Wackenhut Electronic Systems Corporation, and the City agreed not to resell any of the software system or updated changes, in:prever,.ents or enhance- ments, and to hold in confidence the design, specifications, and associated documentation. Accordingly, Wackenhut is the only source for these services. Funds are available in the 1981-82 Operating Budget. The Department of Folice concurs with this recommendation. ALM:an 82-55
