P FERENCF_9munity Schools Program.
City Commission Agenda of February 11,
EN CLOSURES 1982.
It is recommended that the City Com-
mission amend Section 1 of Resolution
#81-1034, by reducing the allocation
to Dade County Schools -Community
Schools Program, from 48,749 to
32,629 and the Dade Count Schools -
After Care Program from $144,014 to
96,010 and further terminatina con-
tracts with the aforementioned
agencies on June 30, 1982.
At its December 10, 1981 meeting, the City Commission passed Resolution
81-1034 which allocated the balance of Fiscal Year 81-82 Federal Revenue
Sharing Funds to approved social service agencies. Prior to this legis-
lation, allocations had been approved (by Resolution 81-816, 81-880 and
81-954) for the period October 1, 1981 through December 31, 1981. The
total allocation, as a result of the aforementioned legislation, provided
the Dade County Schools -After School Care Program $192,017 and the Dade
County Schools -Community Schools Program $65,000 for FY'81-82. However,
at the December 10, 1981 meeting, the City Commission also unanimously
passed Motion 81-1035 which expressed the Commission's intent to ".
begin the process of phasing out City of Miami Day Care Operations, in-
cluding Dade County After School Care Programs... to coincide with the
end of the school year."
The attached Resolution formalizes the intent of Motion 81-1035. Passage
of this proposed Resolution will reduce the total funding for the After
School Program from $192,017 to•$144,014 and the Community Schools Pro-
gram from $65,000 to $48,750. Both contracts would terminate June 30,
1982. The reduction of $64,254 will be transferred to Rescinded Funds
Balance.
