HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-82-0123RESOLUTION NO. 8 2_ 1 2 3 A RESOLUTION RATIFYING, CONFIRMING AND APPROVING THE ACTION OF THE CITY MANAGER IN AUTHORIZING THE EMERGENCY PURCHASE OF A SET OF PORTABLE BLEACHERS FROM STADIUMS UNLIMITED, INC. FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS TO REPLACE STOLEN BLEACHERS AT GIBSON PARK AT A TOTAL COST OF $14,000 WITH FUNDS THEREFOR ALLOCATED AS FOLLOWS: 25% FROM 1981 FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT FRANCHISE FEES IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,500, 50% FROM A U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,000, AND 25% FROM A STATE OF FLORIDA RECREATION AND DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,500. WHEREAS, there was an urgent need to replace the portable bleachers which were stolen from Gibson Park; and WHEREAS, a set of portable bleachers which would meet the requirements was available for immediate delivery at a discount of approximately $2,500; and WHEREAS, funds were available as follows: 25% from the 1981 Florida Power and Light Franchise Fees in the amount of $3,500, 50% from a U.S. Department of the Interior Grant in the amount of $7,000 and 25% from a State of Florida Recreation and Development Assistance Grant in the amount of $3,500; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Parks recom- mended the purchase.on an emergency basis; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The action of the City Manager in authorizing the emergency purchase of a set of portable bleachers from Stadiums Unlimited, Inc. for the Department of Parks to replace stolen bleachers at Gibson Park at a total cost of $14,000 is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved with funds therefor hereby allocated as follows: 25% from 1981 Florida Power and Light Franchise Fees in the amount of $3,500, 50% from a U.S. Department of the Interior Grant in the amount of $7,000 and 25% from a State of Florida Recreation and Development Assistance Grant in the amount of $3,500. Mullins ,.,.LO;.: Resolution Purchasing Agent Attached is a resolution ratifying and confirming your approval of an emergency purchase of a set of Portable Bleachers for the Department of Parks. The emergency was created by the theft of portable bleach- ers from Gibson Park and Williams Park. Stadiums Unlimited, Inc. is a manufacturer of portable bleachers. They had a set in the South Florida area for demonstrations that would meet our requirements. They agreed to sell the set to the City for $the000g00, areular p' savings of approximately $ rice of $16,500.00. Funds for this purchase were expended as follows: 257. 1981 Florid Power and Light Franchise Fees $ 3,500.00 50% U. S. Department of The Interior Grant 7,000.00 25% Florida Recreation and Development 3,500.00 Assistance Grant Total $14,000.00 The purchase of 2 sets of portable bleachers was requested by the Department of Parks. Sealed bids were received for the second set, and a resolution has been 1prepared recom- mending the award to Stadiums Unlimited, nc. at a cost Of $16,490.00.
