A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FROM THE MIAMI RIVER SPECIALTY CENTER PROJECT TO THE GARMENT CENTER/ FASHION DISTRICT REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $950,000 TO COVER COST ASSOCIATED WITH LAND ACQUISITION AND REDEVELOPMENT OF PHASE II OF THE GARMENT CENTER/FASHION DISTRICT REDEVLOP- MENT PROJECT. WHEREAS, a condemnation suit for the acquisition of six parcels of the Miami River Specialty Center Project was rejected by the court on August 18, 1981; and WHEREAS, this site is no longer being recommended for a Specialty Center; and WHEREAS, this site is presently being considered for the afford- able housing program; and WHEREAS, there are housing bond funds available for this purpose if this site is approved; and WHEREAS, the City Commission approved the Garment Center/Fashion District Redevelopment Plan (Resolution 79-553) which designated area for public acquisition for redevelopment for industrial purposes; and WHEREAS, there is a need and funds are available from the Specialty Center Project to carry out Phase II of the Garment Center/Fashion Dis- trict Redevelopment Project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. $950,000 is hereby authorized to be transferred from the Community Development Block Grant Funds for the Miami River Specialty Center Project to the Garment Center/Fashion District Redevelopment Project. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby instructed to proceed with land acquisition and redevelopment of Phase II of the Garment Center/Fashion District Redevelopment Project. Knox, Jr. Cit Attorney February 8, 1982 Commission Meeting of February 11, 1982 a ..Items #22 and #23 - Garment Center/Fashion District Redevelopment Program The two attached approved Resolutions (Items #22 and #23) are substantially identical to the draft of the same which were distributed in the Packet for Thursday's meeting. The changes are primarily cosmetic in nature and call for physical attachment in Item #23 of the amendments proposed to be made to the Land Acquisition Plan.
