Gary zarE December 9, 1981 FILE City Manager SUBJECT Appointment to Downtown Community Development Advisory Board FRom Dena Spillman, Director REFERENCES- Commission Agenda: Department of Community Development January 14, 1982 ENCLOSURES It is recommended that the City Commission appoint an individual to the Downtown Com- unity Development Advisory Board to fill a vacant position created by the relocation of a Board member from the Miami area, per the attached resolution. In September, 1981, John Burden, a member of the Downtown Community Development Advisory Board, advised the City that he had accepted employment outside of the Miami area thereby creating a vacant position on the Downtown Community Development Advisory Board. In accordance with the Citizen Participation Plan, it is the authority of the City Commission to fill a vacancy on a Community Development Advisory Board. The appointee serves the remainder of the predecessor's term, which, in this case, is through October 8, 1982. At the November 23, 1981 meeting, the Downtown Community Development Advisory Board recommended that Herbert Spahn, Vice -President of the Downtown Burdines store, be considered by the City Commission to fill the vacancy. Mr. Spahn is a stockholder in the company and is, therefore, eligible to serve as a Board member. /Jmb 82-182
